Earlier this year, we learned that Volvo planned to support Spatial Audio for Apple Music and more through an update to CarPlay. Today Volvo has reaffirmed support and detailed availability for the audio upgrade.
Back in January, Volvo committed to supporting Apple CarPlay going forward despite automakers like GM pulling back support in certain vehicles. At the time, we shared that the Volvo EX60 SUV would support Spatial Audio through CarPlay as well.
Today, Volvo has shared new details about the Spatial Audio feature, specifically for the EX90:
Volvo adds that “Spatial Audio in CarPlay requires a Bowers & Wilkins sound system to deliver a fully immersive experience, which is available to choose when ordering the Volvo EX60, EX90 and ES90.”
Not in the market for a new car? Pioneer launched the first aftermarket CarPlay system that brings Spatial Audio playback through Dolby Atmos earlier this year.
