As part of CES 2026 this week, Eve has launched the Eve Thermostat, a new Matter-enabled smart thermostat with a minimalist design. With Matter and Thread connectivity, you can control it via the Eve app or with HomeKit and the Apple Home app.

Eve touts that everything is done on your device and there are no user accounts, subscriptions, or other cloud services. The company also promises that Eve Thermostat will receive regular software updates thanks to its integration Matter.
I’ve used various versions of the Ecobee Smart Thermostat for years. I’m happy to see Eve expand this market with its own smart thermostat, though I have some questions about the design. While it does indeed look minimalist, I’m curious how much you can easily accomplish on the thermostat itself versus needing to use the Eve or Apple Home apps.
