
Apple confirmed back in January that Google’s Gemini AI model will power new Siri features. That not only frees us from the need to wait for Apple’s own AI models to catch up, but also means we have a pretty good idea of what’s in store for us.

For a long time, it seemed Apple planned to use its own AI models to power the new Siri. That was leading to doubts about how powerful it might be and when it would finally launch.
Rumors emerged that the iPhone maker was planning on partnering with Google for access to its Gemini models, and the company confirmed this at the start of the year.
This seems to offer the best of both worlds: the best AI models coupled to Apple’s privacy protections.
A beta version of Gemini Personal Intelligence provided an exciting preview of what we can expect.
The Android show revealed further upcoming Gemini features that are also likely to come to the new Siri.
Whether an Apple version of that latter one will come to iOS 27 remains to be seen, but it’s certainly something I’d love to see.
